Our dog died last night. I was sitting at home watching a movie when my little brother told me. He said that our mom was walking with her to my grandma's house and I guess she saw a cat and ran out in the street and got hit by a truck. I was in disbelief when he told me because I had just seen her about 15 mins prior. She was tired because she spent all day outside playing and I remember how adorable she was being. She was so tired that she was sitting up sleeping and she almost fell over. I remember thinking how she usually has sooooo much energy but that she tired herself out with all of that running. After I found out, after I stopped trying to deny it, I went numb and then in to shock and tried not to think about it. My poor mom came back home and she was visibly upset. She started crying and then she sat on the porch for awhile and wouldn't answer anyone's phone calls. Then when she came back inside, she sat in a chair in the kitchen with the lights off watching tv. I didn't know what to say to her. I still don't really. After my mom when to bed, I decided to go and get Ruby from my grandma's house. I decided that I was going to burying her because I didn't want her to be thrown away like a piece of garbage. She wasn't just some dog, she was a part of our family and she deserved better than that. I went to my grandma's and got her out of the trashcan and as I held her I remembered think that she was so still, so lifeless, and frail and her body felt heavier than normal. After I brought her back home, I started digging a hole in the front yard. I called Amanda while I was doing it because I needed someone and I couldn't it alone. I would've been harder on me if I hadn't called her. We talked as I kept digging and she was being so amazing. I'm glad I have someone like her that I can count one. After the hole was deep enough, I took her out of the trash bag and lowered her into the hole. I was shaking from the moment I started digging her grave and it became worse when I opened the trash bag and saw her. I covered her with dirt and then put rocks around her grave and then put a flower on it. My mom really loved her and had ruby for awhile before I met her during my Thanksgiving break. Even though I hadn't known her as long as my mom had she left quite an imprint on my heart.
